History: Jaune @ RWBY Wiki

Personality: From Jaune's first appearance he gives an impression like that of a golden retriever: outgoing, friendly, confident, and goofy. He made friends via earnest persistence and seemed to completely lack in any fear of rejection or embarrassing himself - such as showing up at his crush's door with a guitar to sing a dance invitation at her, or publicly wearing a dress without complaint after losing a bet. He shows himself to be an honest, earnest person unwilling to let a little something like repeated failure get in his way.

Jaune as he was then is a very different person to who he was a year on. His enthusiastic extroversion ended up being a facade built to compensate for his low self-esteem and lack of confidence in his abilities and future. His track record for honesty and integrity was marred by the revelation that he faked his transcripts in order to get into Beacon academy. After his close friend and teammate, Pyrrha, was killed without Jaune being able to so much as help his seemingly relentless sunny optimism became pockmarked with weary cynicism. Already prone to letting his emotions lead him, he became recklessly impulsive, looking for any encounter or task that might give his existence some degree of meaning - even if that task was dying and the only meaning it would impart would be to buy his friends a little more time.

And since then he's developed even further and is now closer to something resembling a healthy equilibrium. Finally coming to grips with Pyrrha's death and, more importantly, coming to understand what motivated her in the first place was a watershed moment for Jaune and marked a significant change in his attitude and motivations. He abandoned his efforts to validate himself through his own death and focused instead on becoming a better friend and a better team leader. Though still warm, sincere, and ultimately ruled by his emotions, he's gotten better at holding himself back from the first impulsive idea that jumps to mind.

And that's where he is now: significantly matured since his first year at Beacon, but still recognizable as Jaune. This is easy to see in the fact that Jaune is more than just a bit of a pushover. While he can, has, and will dig his heels in when it comes to things that actually matter, he's otherwise fairly described as either 'easy going' or 'passive', depending on the situation. It's not that he's without his share of opinions; Jaune is by no means above complaining or protesting if he feels like he's being treated unfairly. It's just that he tends to go along with a situation regardless of his own thoughts on the matter. Getting relegated to boring jobs, being addressed by embarrassing nicknames, and being to told to join a mission while he was without a weapon are all things he's gone along with.

When Jaune decides to be stubborn, though, there's almost nothing that can deter him from a course of action. He won't give up on a task for practical or logical reasons; something being too difficult or too long of a shot won't deter him. If he thinks it should be done then he wants to try, and if their best chance at a achieving a goal has low odds of success (like, for example, stealing a military plane in order to break into a heavily barricaded city, or trying to evacuate a whole city of panicking people in a single day, or breaking into a flying fortress to rescue a friend) he'll throw himself tirelessly at the task. It even works out for him sometimes!

Though Jaune still has his moments of pessimism and neurosis (particularly when it comes to predicting that something is likely to go horribly wrong) he's largely managed to recapture much of the warm friendliness of his earlier days. He makes friends easily and has formed deep bonds with his teammates and friends. He's someone in the process of still growing and changing, but he continues to make steady progress.

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:
Aura
Aura is the 'manifestation of one's soul' in Remnant. Aura is primarily used in a defensive manner, cloaking the user in a shield that protects them from damage and can even reduce the discomfort and harm of being exposed to extreme temperatures. It can also be projected in a more tangible way via the use of a Semblance (detailed below), and will passively speed the healing of any injuries its user may have. Jaune won't be recovering any lost limbs, but it can allow him to survive wounds that would normally be fatal. Any use of Aura will steadily deplete it, though it can be recovered via rest. Once it's gone, Jaune can be injured just like any other human and will no longer enjoy any other Aura benefits.

Warp: The increased healing factor of Jaune's Aura will be halved, and a complete Aura depletion will take twice as long to recover from.

Aura Amp
A Semblance is a unique power that people of Remnant can unlock and Jaune's, as the name implies, allows him the amplify the Auras other people. Doing so not only increases all of the natural shielding and healing effects of Aura, it also allows whoever is being amplified to pour that extra power into their Semblance. Jaune must be close to someone to amplify their Aura (within a few feet), and the effects fade as soon as Jaune stops using his Semblance.

Warp: Should Jaune use Aura Amp on anyone from Remnant while they're injured, he'll feel a phantom echo of whatever injury they're experiencing. The pain will be just as great for Jaune as it for the person with the actual injury, and it will linger with Jaune for three times the duration of the Aura Amp (not counting the actual time Aura Amp is active).

Crocea Mors
Most people from Remnant have equipment that combine melee weapons and firearms into a singular, deadly marvels of engineering. Jaune has a sword and shield.

The sword is a simple, straightforward sword (and was recently broken in half) but the shield isn't without it's quirks. It can be collapsed into a sheath for the blade, which can then be locked onto the blade to transform it into a two-handed weapon. When in shield form the edges can be extended through the use of hard light Dust (Dust being a sort of crystalized magic energy), while gravity Dust can be used to emit bursts of force from the front of the shield.
